How To Take Care Of Your Garden

There are a lot of factors that contribute why your Calgary landscape design deteriorates. So, as a gardener, you should have the know-how on how to protect your garden.

One of the things that attack your garden is pests. To protect your crops from being ravaged by pests such as deer and other nuisance animals, be sure to fence your garden securely. A good fence will also keep other people from trampling your crops, or worse, stealing them. If you have burrowing pests like gophers, you may want to use raised beds for your vegetables.

Weeds are also harmful. Make sure you remove the weeds from your garden! Weeds can take a promising garden and turn it into a shell of its potential. It's important to remove the weeds in the garden at least once a week. To help you do this, you may want to consider using white vinegar. White vinegar can kill weeds! So, may a spray solution of white vinegar if you are tired of pulling those weeds by hand.

Now, if you want to have a more productive garden, expand your growing season into the fall by using row covers. Row covers keep heat in, frost out, and also protect against deer intrusion. The crops under the row covers should still be somewhat resistant to cold however, so it is best to choose greens and root vegetables.

Seasons come and go and the most harmful of them all is winter. When winter comes, you can save a few plants by transferring them inside the house. Choose carefully: do not save a plant that won't live through a winter inside. Perhaps you can save your most expensive or resistant plants. Dig around the roots carefully and transfer the plant to a pot.

If you’re more careful and responsible over your plants, you are sure to grow a wonderful garden!
